Oprindeligt havde forkandidaterne Mauricio Macri, Daniel Scioli og Sergio Massa et tredobbelt bånd i afstemningerne til præsidentvalget i 2015. Scioli var kandidat til fronten for sejr, det regerende parti på det tidspunkt, og Macri og Massa modsatte sig det. De andre partier oprettede en politisk koalition, bred front UNEN.
